The Gorge section of the South Fork of the American River is a beautifully scenic 13 mile, section of river. This section is perfect for first timers, it starts off with a perfect class II warm up with the rapids getting progressively more exciting as we wind our way through the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Suddenly high above the Gorge the lollypop tree appears and the canyon makes a sudden change of character carving its way deeper and deeper into the mountains. This marks the entrance to “The Gorge” itself where the river disappears around the bend and rushes into Fowlers’ Rock Class III. After this spectacular rapid the rapids keep coming Class IIs and IIIs abound with the famous Satan’s Cesspool setting the mood for the rest of the trip building the anticipation, until we reach Hospital Bar a monster Class III+ rapid that…well let’s just say it’s beyond words. So, join us on an adventure on The Gorge and feel the experience that only the South Fork of the American can offer.

Cancellation Policy:: All changes to your reservation require 7 days advance notice. If you cancel within 7 days or do not show up for the tour we charge 50% of the total price quoted. There is a 5% credit card processing fee on all refunds.
Additional Information:: All Guests must be 8 years of age or older, and good physical condition. Pregnant women are advised against whitewater rafting. Reasonable accommodation will be made for people with disabilities, however they must me capable of keeping themselves in the boat if possible and understanding guide directions.
